MISHAWAKA, Ind -- Penn softball celebrates with the community after bringing home their second state title.
The Kingsmen faced Roncalli, known as the #3 team in the country, yet still pulled out the win, despite being the underdog.
A massive win for the program, who's gone 24 years without winning a state championship, since 1999.
After facing a tough season and battling injuries, the ladies were supported by their community as the team was officially recognized as state champs.
"It means the world to me. I mean, ever since I was young, I was like, going to state, that would be huge and I did it. The team did it. We won, so it just feels absolutely amazing," said senior Alexis Rieem.
Rieem is one of two seniors on the team, giving the Kingsmen a great shot at returning to state finals in 2024.
