SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A South Bend Schools teacher is facing allegations that she is in a romantic relationship with a former student.

SBCSC officials confirm that the teacher, Ms. Angela Hardman, is still working as a teacher even after a previous investigation into her conduct.

In a statement to ABC57, an SBCSC spokesperson says:

Ms. Hardman is currently employed by South Bend Community School Corporation.

The Corporation is aware of allegations that have recently resurfaced online. Based on the information currently available, those allegations were previously brought forward and investigated by the previous administration several years ago. The Corporation will thoroughly investigate any new complaints or information brought forward.

The Corporation does not comment further on individual personnel matters.

According to the district’s online directory, Hardman is a math teacher at Studebaker Yas, the district’s young adults' services program.

According to former students, she has also taught middle school classes at other South Bend schools.

The alleged relationship has recently resurfaced after photos began circulating on social media over the weekend showing Hardman with who appears to be her former student.

According to sources including current South Bend School parents and former students, this alleged relationship has been ongoing for a few years and that former student is now likely in his early to mid-twenties.

ABC57 also reached out to the St Joseph County Special Victims' Unit to see if there are any records of previous investigations involving Hardman or whether those investigations were only internal within the district.

ABC57 is still waiting to hear back.
