SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- In the aftermath of the massive fire at the Stadium Flats Affordable Housing Development under construction near Four Winds Field, the South Bend Fire Department says investigators could not get into the charred wreckage until a damaged construction crane was removed due to safety concerns.
That crane has been removed. Now firefighters and the State Fire Marshals Office have access to begin repairs on the complex.
