MGN BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- A boil order is in effect in Niles Charter Township after officials say coliform bacteria were detected in the water supply.
Officials say, while coliform bacteria in and of themselves are generally unharmful, they can be an indicator for more dangerous bacteria. A release from the county says E. coli has not been detected.
Residents are asked to boil all drinking water for at least a minute before use, or to use bottled water.
