Parisi's Ristorante Italiano closes after 44 years

UPDATE: ABC57 reached out to Travis Parisi, who stated the closure is due to his father, Roberto, wanting to retire.

Travis stated it is best for him to enjoy his life with his family.

Travis currently works full-time in Chicago and has been helping his father with the restaurant as much as he can, but they concluded this is what's best for their family.

ORIGINAL STORY: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Parisi family announced via Facebook that they've decided to close Parisi's Ristorante Italiano after 44 years of business.

Roberto Parisi opened the restaurant in 1981 with his parents after immigrating from Italy, bringing their love for food, family, and community with them, the family said.

The location became a home for birthday parties, weddings, anniversaries, and meals shared with friends and family.

The family said in part, "We are endlessly grateful to our loyal customers and friends who have supported us through the decades. You’ve welcomed us into your lives, and Parisi’s would be nothing without you."

To celebrate together one last time the family has invited the community to a Customer Appreciation Night on their final evening of service, Sunday, Oct. 5.

There will be dinner specials and live entertainment from 6 to 9 p.m.

You can make reservations online.
