Notre Dame football players appear in court
Three Notre Dame football players, who were arrested on August 19 in Fulton County appeared in court Tuesday morning.
Max Redfield, Kevin Stepherson and Te'Von Coney all appeared in court. Ashton White and Dexter Williams waived their initial court hearing.
All three entered not guilty pleas in court Tuesday.
Redfield, Stepherson and Williams are all facing one count of possession of a handgun without a license and possession of marijuana.
Coney is facing one count of synthetic identity deception and possession of marijuana. White faces one count of possession of a legend drug and possession of marijuana.
According to the probable cause affidavit, there was a 9-mm loaded with hollow point bullets on the floor of the back seat within reach of Redfield, Stepherson and Williams.
All five allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana.
In addition, Coney was allegedly in possession of a fake ID and White was allegedly in possession of muscle relaxers he said he got from a friend.
Head Coach Brian Kelly met with each of the players the weekend following their arrest and released Redfield from the team.
Redfield, Stepherson and Coney have trials set in October. White and Williams' next court dates have not been set.
