SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Irish eyes are smiling Friday night as Notre Dame defeated Indiana University, 27-11 in the first-ever home College Football Playoff game.

On a cold night in South Bend, the Fighting Irish were able to defend their home turf against the Hoosiers, who completed a Cinderella season in head coach Curt Cignetti's first season at the helm with an 11-2 record.

The Irish advance to play Georgia in New Orleans on Jan. 1.
