North Judson Mint Festival to feature Twilight Train
NORTH JUDSON, Ind. -- An additional attraction has been added to this year's North Judson Mint Festival, giving attendees the opportunity to catch a round-trip, sightseeing excursion on a Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum train.
The special 'Twilight Train' will be departing from the HVRM depot in North Judson on Saturday, June 15 at 10 a.m., 3 p.m., and 8:15 p.m. Central Time.
"All train excursions are round-trip from the depot and travel about five miles to the Kankakee River at English Lake, before returning to North Judson," organizers said. "Passengers ride in open-air sightseeing cars or vintage cars."
Each trip will take roughly 45 minutes, and tickets will be $14 for anyone 16 and above, and $10 for children ages 3-15. Kids two and under are free.
Purchasing tickets ahead of the event is recommended since seating is limited.
"The HVRM has one of the largest museum collections of working railroad signals and a restored WWII Pullman Troop Car," museum officials said. "Stroll around the grounds to see all types of rolling stock, engines, and memorabilia of a by-gone era."
Museum admission is free.
HVRM website describes itself as an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and education of railroading history.
