SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- New Day Intake Center announced a groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility at 4022 Old Cleveland Road in South Bend. The event marks the next phase of their effort to end chronic homelessness in South Bend and will be held at 1 p.m. on September 22, 2025.

The 25,000-square-foot, permanent low-barrier shelter includes:

• - 30 single-occupancy rooms and 45 double-occupancy rooms for a total of 120 beds.
• - Dedicated medical clinic space.
• - On-site laundry facilities.
• - Full-service kitchen and dining area.
• - Spaces dedicated to mental health and addiction recovery support.
• - Outdoor communal areas and a chapel.
• - An art workshop and indoor communal space.

The project is expected to be completed by late 2027.
