Nappanee Public Library to undergo renovations

NAPPANEE, Ind. -- For decades, the Nappanee Public Library has been a space for learning and connection. Now, it’s getting a long-awaited makeover.

"It's something, it's a place that people have grown to rely on. I want us to make sure that we are using this space in a way that really bolsters and emphasizes the importance of our community and economic development," Director for Nappanee Public Library Seth James said.

The renovations will be carried out in three phases, starting with the children’s department, followed by programming space, teen space and general collection, and concluding with a new meeting room complex.

While some areas may be temporarily relocated, all library services and programs will continue as usual.

The library hopes to break ground before the end of 2025, ensuring that Nappanee residents will soon have an improved space to read, learn and connect.

"One of the big things that is a big emphasis for me and for members of our community is making sure that this is a place welcoming to families and to children, to young people. I'm very passionate about making sure public libraries are safe and exciting places for families to bring their kids, and so that really is a big emphasis for us," James said.

There is no set timetable for completion.
