Mystery 911 call regarding two brothers at center of St. Joseph County Probate Court Judge race

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- ABC57 News is looking into who made a mystery 911 call about a confrontation between two brothers at the center of a bitter campaign for St. Joseph County Probate Court Judge.

Incumbent Democrat Jason Cichowicz is being challenged by Republican Loris Zappia for a six-year term overseeing the St. Joseph County Juvenile Justice Center and Probate Court.

In August, Loris Zappia got into a physical confrontation with his own brother, Len Zappia, who currently works as a magistrate under Probate Court Judge Jason Cichowicz, his brother's opponent.

Neither brother called police about the dispute, no police report was taken, and no charges were filed.

Then someone identifying himself as "Tyler" called 911 after hearing about the dispute even though "Tyler" admitted to dispatchers he was not at the scene, did not witness what happened, and got his information "secondhand."

But there have been questions raised about who made that call and why.

ABC57 News obtained the 911 call, and you can hear it for yourself along with an interview from Mark Rolfes the president of Hoosier Conservative Voices, who claims it was Tyler Gillean who made the mysterious call.

Tyler Gillean is the former head of the St. Joseph County Republican Party.

One other note: Mark Rolfes' political action committee, Hoosier Conservative Voices, has endorsed Republican Loris Zappia in the Probate Court Judge race.
