Multiple trailers and construction equipment recovered in Van Buren County

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- On Jan. 26 the Van Buren County Sheriff Office responded to the 37000 block of 82nd Ave in Decatur Township to assist the Benton Township Police Department as well as the Michigan State Police to locate a trailer stolen from their jurisdiction.
After arriving on scene, the Van Buren County Sheriff's office was able to locate the trailer in question. After further investigation a number of other trailers were found and a large amount of construction equipment.
The owner of the property was unable to provide proof of ownership of the items and several of the trailers had missing or obliterated serial/vin numbers.
The trailers and the large amount of stolen construction equipment were seized by the Van Buren County Sheriff Office pending identification of ownership.
The case is still under investigation and charges will be brought at a later date. The total value is not known but one of the trailers had over 45,000 worth of supplies and equipment from a construction job site.
