Motorcyclist injured in Elkhart County crash
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- At 5:51 p.m. on Wednesday, Elkhart County Sheriff's deputies responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle.
A 2019 Honda motorcycle was traveling north on U.S. Hwy 33 when it approached the C.R. 13 intersection.
It then collided with the back of a 2004 Ford Ranger that was stopped in traffic.
The motorcycle sustained heavy damage in the crash and the motorcyclist, identified as 35-year-old Jorge Gonzalez of Elkhart, was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for a head injury.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Ford, identified as 57-year-old David Rheinheimer of Elkhart, was uninjured, and no damage was sustained by his vehicle.
Gonzalez was not able to consent to a blood draw, so a search warrant for his blood was obtained. The results are pending.
