MLK Jr. Dream Center hosting Black History Skate Night Feb. 16

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Center in South Bend is encouraging community members to lace up their skates and head out to Howard Park on Feb. 16, from noon to 7:30 p.m. for a Black History Skate Night.

Organizers say the event will celebrate Black history and culture through music, skating, community, and a Black History Market.

“We're excited to celebrate Black History Month on ice with Dream Center Presents: Black History Skate Night,” said Phillip Williams, Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Center Program Coordinator. “Ice skating, food trucks, free hot chocolate, performances by Dream Detroit Skating Club, and a market showcasing black-owned businesses. You can't beat it!”

Attendees can take park in themed skate sessions, including a live DJ spinning Motown and gospel music, performances, and a curated market featuring local Black-owned businesses and vendors. Food trucks will be on-site, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere for all.
