Crash between South Shore train and semi-truck at Smilax Crossing

Saint Joseph County Police SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The Saint Joseph County Police Department has announced that Smilax Road, between U.S. 20 and Edison Road, is currently closed.
Shortly after 8 p.m. a crash occurred between a South Shore train and a semi-truck at the Smilax crossing.
There are no injuries reported at this time.
It is asked that the public avoids this area and uses alternative routes.
