Michigan City mayor extends closure of Washington Park, zoo, senior center

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Michigan City Mayor Duane Parry has extended the closure of Washington Park, the zoo, the senior center and more through the next week.

The previous order closing all Michigan City beaches, the zoo and Washington Park expires Thursday evening.

Washington Park, the zoo, the senior center, Sunset Grille and Fedder’s Alley will be closed from Friday at 12:01 a.m. through 11:59 p.m. July 30.

The closures extend to vehicles, pedestrians, motorcycles and bicycles.

Mayor Parry has also requested the Park Board discuss park operations this year and develop rules and guidelines for Washington Park during the pandemic.
