MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Republicans from Michiana are in the center of all the action in Milwaukee, including the brand-new St. Joseph County GOP chair.
Jackie Horvath assumed her new position as chair just last month.
Local party officials have said her leadership will mark a new chapter for the Saint Joseph County GOP and she tells ABC57 that's even more true after sitting in on one of the biggest political events in the last several years.
Horvath, a local businesswoman and entrepreneur who founded Horvath Communications headquartered in downtown South Bend, involved herself in politics in more recent years.
Her passion for the pro-life movement jumpstarted her political career, founding and serving as the board president for 'Voices for Life'.
Now, her plan for the county GOP is to continue the momentum that started under former chair Tyler Gillean who helped make Saint Joseph County a red county for the first time in 2022.
This year's RNC is her first political convention and she's taking the opportunity to learn from others who hold similar positions to hers between listening to speeches from some of the biggest names in current politics.
Horvath says a few of her favorite speakers from last night were Lara Trump and Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
