OSCEOLA, Ind. – Easter and Dyngus Day are right around the corner.
As vaccination efforts ramp up and guidelines for gatherings ease up, the holiday is expected to look a lot more normal than it did last year. Many local restaurants and businesses like butcher shops are ready for the weekend rush.
During Easter, ham is often the focal point of traditional meals. However, in other cultures, roasted lamb is sometimes preferred. Which comes from the first Passover Seder observed by Jewish people.
Some families are getting the chance to celebrate their first holiday together in a long time, now that thousands of people have been immunized against COVID-19.
At D.C Meats in Osceola, they have a wide selection of pork, turkey, chicken, and sausage since Dyngus day falls on Monday. To get ready for the big holiday weekend, the local butcher shop is offering some Easter specials like their Easter Ham which is $2.99 a pound, and their Polish sausage, which is $3.49 a pound. The butcher shop is not limiting customer's orders, but customers have until Saturday to put in their order.
