Lion cubs pass swim test

The National Zoo's four African lion cubs will be on display now that they've passed the swim reliability test.

The test was to determine if the two month old lion cubs could swim as well as navigate toward shore and climb from the moat to dry land.

Animal care staff at the National Zoo placed the cubs into the water and helped guide the cubs towards land.

All four succeeded.

By passing the test, the cubs proved to the animal keepers that they are ready to safely explore their outdoor habitat.

And - more importantly for visitors - ready to be seen by the public.
