LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. – It was a low scoring, physical battle between the Lakeland Lakers and the Fairfield Falcons Friday night, but the Lakers took the win at home with the final score 17- 6.
The Lakers defense kicked into action, not allowing the Falcons to make it to the end zone even once during the game.
Lakeland’s head coach, Tom Wogoman, says it was a well-rounded win, but the defense especially shined in their physicality.
"Collectively, this was a team win. I told them, all the way from what we did on the sidelines to obviously our guys that were in between the lines; just had a really, good clean game,” explains Wogoman. “I'm proud as far as how we responded to those really tough, because to get Fairfield to walk away with just a couple field goals, I'm really proud of our defense."
With just one week left to go in the regular season, the Lakers move 5-3 and the Falcons 3-5.
