BENTON HARBOR, Mich – Next fall Lake Michigan College will open a new Wine and Viticulture Center.
The new center would expand the existing program that teaches how to process, package and sell wine.
The new 14,000 square foot center will provide new facilities to the program that leads to an associate’s degree in Wine and Viticulture technology.
The college houses the only teaching winery in the Midwest.
“You don’t have to go far to find wine in Michigan. We are really an up and coming area, the traverse city area, and berrien county alone we’ve seen some wineries popping up all over so we know that there’s a demand and there’s an interest and once we get this center build we will expand to the rest of the Midwest” Dr. Kubatzke, President of Lake Michigan College said.
The school currently partners with local vineyards and Michigan State University.
