Semi-truck strikes vehicle on S.R. 17, leaves 46-year-old man dead
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Coroner’s Office reports it was informed of a fatal crash between a semi-truck and passenger vehicle around 11:46 a.m., Tuesday.
The crash occurred on S.R. 17 and S.R. 8 just south of Plymouth.
The report states a Mercury Sable, driven by 46-year-old Micheal Vebert of Huntington, Ind., was traveling east on S.R. 8 when it entered the path of a semi-truck heading south on S.R. 17.
Vebert was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marshall County chief deputy coroner.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department reported a fatal crash involving a semi around 11:23 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of S.R. 17 and S.R. 8.
According to the sheriff's department, on Tuesday around 11:23 a.m., Vebert was driving east on S.R. 8 in a 2008 Mercury Sable with an adult passenger in the front seat and a child in the back.
As Vebert approached the intersection with S.R. 17, a 2018 Freightliner Semi was driving south on S.R. 17. Vebert failed to yield right of way to the semi-truck, resulting in a crash.
Vebert's two passengers were transported to Memorial Hospital of South Bend for injuries.
The Freightliner's driver refused medical treatment at the scene and was not injured.
This crash is still under investigation.
