Kidnapping with Resisting Arrest in Van Buren County
VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- Van Buren Sheriff Deputies responded to a personal protection order violation call near the 38k block of 62nd St. in Bangor Township Friday night around 11 p.m. where they found a suspect barricaded inside a residence with the victim.
The suspect, identified as a 33-year-old man from the Bangor area, had made his way into the home and was holding the victim hostage, according to police.
The suspect reportedly barricaded himself inside a bedroom and failed to comply with officer's orders. During the negotiation, the suspect came out armed with a baseball bat while making threats towards the Deputies. The suspect then threw the bat at Deputies and retreated back into the bedroom with the victim.
Shortly after ignoring more verbal commands from authorities, the suspect again came out of the bedroom, this time armed with two knives. He reportedly threw one of the knives at the Deputies before again retreating to the bedroom.
After a period of negotiations and verbal commands, the suspect left the bedroom and was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries occurred, and the suspect was lodged on several felony charges.
