ISP, New York State Police joint investigation leads to Warsaw man's arrest for sexual activity with minor
WARSAW, Ind. -- The Indiana State Police report a joint investigation with the New Yor State Police has led to the arrest of a Warsaw man on 27 charges after he allegedly traveled from Indiana to New York to engage in sexual activity with a female juvenile.
Police say the investigation began in February and culminated with troopers and detectives with the Indiana State Police serving an arrest warrant at a residence located at 6515 W. C.R. 550 N in Warsaw at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Detectives arrested 25-year-old Tyler Harmon on 27 charges, including 5 counts of Sexually Motivated Felony, Class B, and 9 counts of Rape in the Third Degree.
Police say the charges are a result of a New York State Police investigation that began in Warren County, N.Y.
Harmon is alleged to have contacted a 14-year-old girl via social media platforms Omegle and Snapchat.
Harmon is then alleged to have traveled to New York to meet this juvenile on three occasions over the course of a year to engage in sexual activity.
Harmon was taken into custody without incident Tuesday morning and taken to the Kosciusko County Jail where he awaits extradition to New York.
According to Harmon's social media profiles, he's been a firefighter with the Atwood Fire Department since 2017.
