House fire on Campeau Street Wednesday night

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Fire Department reports crews responded to residential fire at 1125 Campeau St. around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Crews say upon arrival they observed smoke showing from the front of the single-story home.

Firefighters made entry and located the fire in the basement, quickly bringing it under control in about 10 minutes.

The report states the homeowners had exited the home safely.

No injuries were reported by firefighters.

Fire officials say the origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
