Highway bridge collapses in Washington State

MT. VERON, Wash. — Three people are recovering in Washington State following a bridge collapse on a major highway.

Officers say the highway bridge linking Seattle with Canada collapsed about halfway between Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia.

On Thursday night, a handful of vehicles and people fell into the Skagit River.

Interstate 5 is the busiest freeway in the west. It connects Washington and California all the way to the Mexican Border.

Officials say they were confident there were no fatalities.
