High school student arrested for punching a staff member

ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department reported that an officer placed an Elkhart High School student under arrest for allegedly striking a staff member multiple times on Tuesday.

The staff member reported to police that she was attempting to separate the student from another student and escort him to the school’s office before being struck multiple times in the arm by that student.

Police say the student was placed under arrest for battery and was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
