SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Hearts for Haley, the Valentine's Day Fundraiser to support long-time South Bend Silver Hawks Manager Mark Haley's medical expenses.
The event, with music, comedy, dancing, and dinner went down at the 1st Source Bank Performance Center by Four Winds Field.
Assistant General Manager for the South Bend Cubs Chris Hagstrom-Jones tells ABC57 why the community comes together in such a way for Mr. Mark Haley.
"He really helped shape and revitalize baseball in this area. There's just so many people who will attribute their love of the game to what Mark Haley has done, and beyond managing," stated Hagstrom-Jones.
He continues, "He also was here as our instructor in the performance center, so he has kind of helped instill the love of baseball, his love of baseball, to many young people throughout the region here, and there's a lot of people in professional baseball that owe their careers to Mark Haley."
ABC57 was also told guests had a chance to bid in a silent auction on baseball memorabilia donated by the Chicago Cubs.
