Habitat for Humanity to break ground in new Elkhart subdivision

ELKHART, Ind. — Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County will celebrate with seven families when they break ground in the newly created Hope Court subdivision on Wednesday, May 24.

The new eight-home Habitat subdivision off Stiver Avenue in Elkhart is where seven of Habitat's partner families will celebrate their groundbreakings alongside Habitat staff, board members, sponsors, volunteers, and the community.

The 3:00 p.m. ceremony at the center of the cul-de-sac will feature guest speakers from the city of Elkhart, sponsoring organizations, and the seven future homeowners, Miesha Johnson, Laci Riege, Julie Morris, Montasia Cole-Chifton, Qwatecia Taylor, Ebony Davis, and Rachel Johnson.

"We decided on the name 'Hope Court' because that's exactly what we want to promote in our community — hope," said Greg Conrad, President, and Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County.

Conrad also stated, "We not only build homes, but we also build hope. Hope is at the center of our mission as we partner with families, volunteers, and sponsors who work together to lift up their neighbors."

The public is invited to attend this celebration. Please note that Hope Court is not yet recognized in phone map apps; the subdivision's entrance is between 521 and 529 Stiver Ave.
