Grace College hosts Supermarket Sweep November 3
WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace College and Mission Point Community Church are hosting the 11th annual Supermarket Sweep on Wednesday.
The community is invited to participate in the event, which asks volunteers to grocery shop for local food banks.
The event will be held at the Kroger located at 2211 E. Center St. in Warsaw from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
This year’s donations will be sent to Combined Community Services, the Salvation Army, and Heartline Pregnancy Center.
After items are purchased, volunteers from Mission Point will sort, pack, and deliver the donations.
“The past several years we have collected over $20,000 of groceries in 13 hours,” said Kearstin Criswell, Director of Student Involvement at Grace College. “Oftentimes, when we deliver the food to the foodbanks, they tell us that their shelves were completely empty, but because of the Supermarket Sweep, they are no longer. It’s our goal to make the shelves fuller than ever this year. We hope that many others will make plans to participate on November 3 and help us provide for our neighbors in need this holiday season.”
If you would like to participate in the sweep, just show up to the store, grab a list, and start shopping.
