Goshen Community Schools announce new nursing program for high school students
GOSHEN, Ind. -- Goshen Community Schools announced Goshen High School will begin offering Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Pathway, a program at the Chandler Education Center.
The new CNA pathway program offers students an opportunity to gain valuable skills, earn college credits, and open doors to careers in healthcare.
The program, which is part of the school's Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes, is designed for students who want to start building a successful career in healthcare while still in high school.
School officials say through GHS coursework and Ivy Tech classes, students can earn college credit in courses like Introduction to Healthcare, CPR, Medical Terminology, Essential Anatomy and Physiology, and CNA Training Preparation.
Ms. Rebecca Hulse will teach both semesters during GHS periods 1-3, with the pathway program preparing students for the state’s CNA certification exam.
Greencroft will offer clinical rotations during the second semester to offer hands-on experience in real healthcare environments.
School officials say whether students pursue roles as Registered Nurses, Physical Therapy Aides, or Medical Assistants, the CNA license is the first step.
