Collison between interurban trolley and passenger car
ABC 57 ELKHART, Ind. -- At around 7:24 p.m. on Friday, Elkhart Police responded to a 911 call of a crash between a city interurban trolley and a passenger car with injuries at the intersection of W Franklin St and S 2nd St.
Upon arrival, officers found a 19-year-old man lying on the ground near the driver's side of the car with an apparent laceration. Medics transported him for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was located inside the passenger car.
The trolley driver reported that, before the crash, he was driving his bus North on 2nd St when the passenger car ran the red light.
Officers seized suspected marijuana from the car during the investigation. At this time no arrests have been made, and this case will be forwarded to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
