Ginuwine takes over the Century Center with Sweetheart All Red Party
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Some South Bend residents getting their R&B groove on tonight, with The New Mix 102.3 and U93 bringing in Grammy nominated artist Elgin Lumpkin, also known as 'Ginuwine' to the Century Center.
The singer, known for hit songs like 'Pony' and 'differences', took the stage at The Sweetheart All Red Party tonight.
“I can't give away all the secrets, but I know for a fact he does have a couple surprises for the ladies. And you know, he loves that red, so the ladies that are wearing red, hey, he's going to have surprises for him," stated Program Director and Music Personality of Mix 102.3 Jino Johnson.
The Sweetheart All Red Party kicked off at 7 p.m., with the crowd filled with hundreds of fans dressed in red ready to sing along with some of R&B's most iconic hits.
Organizers tell ABC57 that South Bend has been on Ginuwine's radar for some time after attempting to make an appearance here, but was unable to due to some technical issues, so he made sure to make it up to dams tonight.
“R and B music, to me is, you know, it's typically dance music, you know, but it has that soul to it, you know, it has that rhythm, and it has a touch of blues to it, and it's, you know, it's just a sound that you know that that is really incomparable to anything else you know when you hear it," stated Johnson.
