LAKEVILLE,Ind. -- February 1 is National Heart Month and to raise awareness about the 23,000 children and young adults lost each year to sudden cardiac arrest. Parent Heart Watch is announcing the first ever National Youth Heart Screening Day.

The free Youth Heart Screening Day with take place on February 1 at Newton Park from 9 a.m to 1p.m. This is in collaboration with the Zac Mago Foundation.

Assistant Director of the Zac Mago Foundation and Teresa Mago who lost her son to sudden cardiac arrest, emphasizes the importance of early detection.

National Youth Heart Screening Day is a call to action for every kid and every heart to be screened for heart related issues, which supports the HEARTS Act signed by Former President Joe Biden to help combat the 23,000-youth lost each year to sudden cardiac arrest.

The Zac Mago Foundation's event on National Youth Heart Screening Day includes a non-invasive electrocardiogram (ECG), interpreted by a physician proficient in evaluating ECGs for the youth population, as well as hands only CPR and AED use demonstrations.
