South Bend Cubs hosts annual Polar Plunge February 25
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Cubs will host the annual South Bend Polar Plunge on February 25 at Four Winds Field. The seventh annual event benefits Special Olympics Indiana.
Registration is now open for the event. Those interested in participating are encouraged to register online.
All participants are asked to raise a minimum of $85 to take part in the event.
With the $85 minimum, participants get an official Polar Plunge event T-shirt.
Additional prizes and incentives will be awarded as participants raise more money.
Participants who raise a minimum of $4,000 and take the plunge twice will be eligible to be recognized as "Super Plungers."
If you do not want to take the plunge but want to donate to the event, you can donate to the South Bend Cubs plunge team.
Anyone who donates $30 or more to the Cubs plunge will be entered to win an outdoor suite to a 2023 South Bend Cubs game. The suite includes up to 16 tickets and the chance to throw out the first pitch.
This winter, 18 Polar Plunge events will be held across the state to support Special Olympics Indiana.
Since its inception, the Polar Plunge has raised more than $9.3 million for Special Olympics Indiana's mission to make a difference in the lives of those with intellectual disabilities.
More than $860,000 was raised in 2022 alone.
“For the last six years, the South Bend Polar Plunge has been the unofficial kickoff party to the new baseball season,” said South Bend Cubs Assistant General Manager for Marketing & Media Chris Hagstrom-Jones. “In that time, we have raised over $100,000 for our local Special Olympic athletes. This year, I’m challenging our community leaders to take the plunge at Four Winds Field. We’re freezin’ for a reason! The cold never bothered me anyway.”
