Former school board president, democratic party leader Wruble disciplined by Indiana Supreme Court

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Former South Bend defense lawyer Stan Wruble has been officially disciplined by the Indiana Supreme Court for reveling information about a client that related to their case and acting in an offensive manner, both violations of the rules of Indiana Professional Conduct.

The court found that Wruble went online and responded to a one-star Google review by a former client by making "multiple demands, using derogatory and profane language," saying the former client needed to take down the review.

When the former client refused to remove their review, Wruble posted a public response, "in which he revealed damaging information about Client relating to the subject of the representation," according to the Indiana Supreme Court.

As a result of the court's decision, Wruble was suspended from practicing law for 30 days, beginning July 18. That suspension can be avoided in Wruble complete at least 18 months of probation with Judge and Lawyers Association Program (JLAP) monitoring.

He must also "attend certified anger management therapy and follow all recommendations therefrom," according to the ruling.

"[Wruble] violated Indiana Professional Conduct Rule 1.9(c) by impermissibly revealing information relating to the representation and Admission and Discipline Rule 22 (Oath of Attorneys) by acting in an offensive manner," the Indiana Supreme Court said in their findings.

Wruble also served as the President of the South Bend Community School Corporation School Board as well as the head of the St. Joseph County Democratic Party.
