Elkhart City Council passes rental inspection program
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Food Bank of Northern Indiana is celebrating its 30th anniversary and receiving more funding to continue its mission.
The organization is getting $233,000 from the state. This comes as the school year starts and the food bank gears up for its ‘Food 4 Kids' program that helps feed kids on weekends and holidays.
Backpacks are distributed every Friday full of healthy snacks and meal items for students through K-12. Last year the program fed more than 2,600 Michiana students in 45 schools.
The food bank of Northern Indiana is helping feed the community with its weekly distributions.
The next one is happening tomorrow in Starke County at the Bass Lake Fire Department in Knox from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CDT.
