ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The Notre Dame Marching Band had their first March Out of year, which involves marching from their building between the library to the football stadium, on Thursday morning.
At the morning march, returning band members were able to meet potential new band members.
"We talk about Notre Dame, the band, being a family. And it's just amazing to watch new people coming in today, and I know that in four years, they're going to exit here and do amazing things in this world," said Notre Dame Associate Band Director Matt Merten.
Tryouts for the band are happening throughout the weekend.
Merten said, "It's been 20 years that I've been here, and it's every year, is just as special like this first march out that you saw. I, you know, the tears well up every single year because, you know, this is something special to be a part of."
