Elkhart woman gets 4 years in prison for drug possession, intent to distribute

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Authorities say 44-year-old Beatris Loredo of Elkhart conspired to have methamphetamine shipped to her through the United States Postal Service in 2022 and 2023.

After pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, Loredo was sentenced to 48 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

"In October 2022, law enforcement intercepted a package bound for Loredo that contained nearly two kilograms of pure methamphetamine," the United States District Attorney's Office said. "In January 2023, law enforcement intercepted a second package bound for Loredo which contained 77 grams of heroin. Both packages originated from Mexico, and Loredo admitted she intended to deliver the packages, but was unable to do so because they never arrived."
