ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department is opening the Citizens Academy for spring on Tuesday, Apr. 21, an eight-week program featuring two-and-a-half-hour classes for citizens to learn the ins and outs of the police department's day-to-day work.

The Citizens Academy will be held every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 9 p.m. from Tuesday, Apr. 21, to Tuesday, June 9. Members of the public can apply until Friday on the Elkhart Police Department's website or at the department's front desk at 175 Waterfall Drive in Elkhart.
