ELKHART, Ind. -- Officials with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office shared that on Tuesday, they responded to at least 15 crashes within the county as a result of the inclement weather.
The main weather difficulties included blowing snow in rural areas, ice, and light snow, adding on to the already slick roadways.
The Elkhart County emergency management operators shared that traffic conditions in the area could face more difficulties if nearby major highways and toll roads were shut down. They explained that when those major roadways get shut down, semi-trucks that need to keep moving will go onto county roads, slowing down traffic for regular drivers.
