Elkhart County two-vehicle crash, with one driver fleeing the scene

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a crash on County Road 19 approaching County Road 26.

A 2004 GMC Sierra was traveling southbound on C.R 19 approaching C.R 26, when a 2006 Chevrolet HHR was traveling westbound on C.R 26 and disregarded a stop sign, failing to yield the right of way to the Sierra, causing both vehicles to collide in the intersection.

The Chevrolet then ran off the southwest section of the intersection and collided with a stop sign and phone line box.

The Sierra also ran off into the southwest section and overturned.

The driver of the Chevrolet fled the scene on foot but was then later located. They were then transported to Elkhart Genral Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Sierra was sent to Goshen Hospital for treatment.
