SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department held their annual Cops and Goblins event at Four Winds Field.

"The main goal for us as the South Bend Police Department is the outreach efforts, and it's also to partner with the community," said Jarveair Bourn, sergeant with the SBPD.

The event brought hundreds of families together with people showing up as early as 11 a.m. waiting for the event to begin.

Local community vendors were swamped as two giant lines formed in the stadium, each person getting the chance to stop by each table to get some treats.

" This is a great opportunity for our officers to be out here to engage in the community, but also for all of our local vendors to be able to get out and get in the community," said Kayla Miller, Captain of the Detective Bureau for SBPD and Michiana Crime Stoppers.

Many families express how much they enjoy coming to Cops and Goblins because it offers an enjoyable time of the week and a safe place for children to get candy.

"For parents that like me as a working adult and just don't have the time to take my kids to trick or treating during the week," said Chelsey Wilson, a parent who attended the event.
