Gov. Braun announces next round of Indiana gas tax holiday reimbursement
MGN INDIANAPOLIS -- More reimbursement money is coming to Indiana counties, cities, and towns following the ongoing suspension of the state's gas tax.
In a new release, Gov. Mike Braun announced nearly $103 million will be reimbursed to the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund, the Local Road and Street Fund, and the Local Road and Bridge Matching Fund. The governor's office says that, of this amount, local governments will receive over $1.1 million.
"Hoosiers deserve relief at the pump without sacrificing the roads and bridges our communities depend on,” said Gov. Braun. “My gas tax holiday has kept Indiana gas prices the lowest in the nation while ensuring counties, cities and towns receive the funding they need to maintain and improve local infrastructure. We’re putting money back in Hoosiers’ pockets while making sure our communities have the resources to keep Indiana moving.”
The governor says the State Comptroller's Office has begun processing payments.
