Elkhart County Historical Museum offers historical exercise program Friday
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Historical Museum announced it will offer a free hybrid historical program, "Learn and Burn," on Friday at 11 a.m.
The program is being held in partnership with the Elkhart County Health Department.
Organizers say the program will include a presentation about fitness trends at the end of the 19th century, and a guided exercise routine inspired by that period.
Museum officials say physical fitness at the turn of the 20th century reflected cultural trends, including attitudes toward race and gender, which will be explored during the program.
Museum Curator of Education Jenifer Blouin Policelli will deliver the historical presentation, while Barb Welty of the Elkhart County Health Department will lead the exercise.
“I’m so excited to incorporate some movement into this program,” said Blouin Policelli. “I think actually performing some of the historical fitness routines that we talk about will help these exercises come alive, and it will also be a lot of fun!”
There is no cost or registration required, and organizers say the exercise routine is suitable for all fitness levels.
You can find more information about this program on the Elkhart County Parks website, and questions can be directed to museum staff at (574) 848-4322 or [email protected].
