Elkhart County crash claims life of 21-year-old Nappanee man Monday

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office is saying a 21-year-old Nappanee man is dead following a crash on C.R. 9 on Monday. 

Authorities say Christopher Manhardt was driving a 2021 Chevy Camero south on C.R. 9 -- south of C.R. 44 -- around noon on Monday when the car went off the east side of the road.

"The car continued southeast and struck a garage on the property of 68148 C.R. 9, authorities said. [The Camero] struck a cement barrier and continued. [The Camero] then struck a barn where it came to a rest."

Manhardt was pronounced deceased at the scene and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
