Elkhart Community Schools to provide free meals for all students this school year

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Elkhart Community Schools announced, after it applied and qualified for Community Eligibility Provision in partnership with the USDA and Indiana Department of Education, all students in all grades in the district will receive free meals for the 24-25 school year.

All students will be provided with breakfast and lunch at no charge.

"We are very excited to offer two meals per day for our students at no charge,” says ECS Food Services Director Pam Melcher. “Our department believes that offering this to ECS families will help students at all grade levels feel supported and ready to achieve their goals.”

Officials say the agreement covers one complete breakfast and one complete lunch per school day, per student, throughout the school year.

ECS families do not need to take any action and there's no fee or need to apply.
