Elkhart City Council approves funds to repair Nappanee Street Pedestrian Bridge

ABC 57

ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart City Council has approved a substantial amount of funding for repairs to the Nappanee Street Pedestrian Bridge.

The approval occurred Monday night for $337,230.

Officials say the funds will maintain the bridge while plans for a permanent replacement continue.

The council noted the vote had been delayed due to Indiana's publication system being down, affecting public notices.

Officials say the timeline for the bridge to reopen is by the start of the school year. Repair work will continue, allowing students and families to safely cross.
