TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. -- Former transportation secretary and South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg says his family is shaken after a fake Child Protective Services tip was placed against him.

In a blog post, Buttigieg said CPS officers arrived at his home this week. He says they told him there had been allegations against him concerning his and Chasten Buttigieg's four-year-old twins. Buttigieg wrote that, after over a day of interviews, it was found that the allegations were unsubstantiated.

A CPS officer reportedly told Buttigieg that the call was made by a woman in Alabama and appeared to be politically motivated.

No specific suspect has been identified or charged.
