GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Goshen Public Library is inviting the public to their free Earth Day-themed programming throughout April.

Library officials say they've partnered with Trees for Goshen, the Goshen Farmer’s Market, Purdue Extension Elkhart County, Goshen Parks and Recreation, Indiana Conservation Voters, and Elkhart County Soil & Water Conservation District to create fun and educational experiences about nature and the environment.

Organizers say the library will borrow an Augmented Reality Sandbox from April 19 to 28 to teach kids about topography and water movement through hands-on experimenting.

Adults interested in gardening and growing will have the opportunity to participate in “Healthy Soil for Gardening" and “All About Trees” on April 29.

Organizers encourage families to get outside and enjoy a good story at the Storybook Trail.

Also in April, library officials say the bilingual picture book Wonder Walkers by Micha Archer will be on display along the trail starting at Reith Interpretive Center.

“The Storybook Trail is a trail designed to encourage families and children to explore nature, stay active, and enjoy the joy of reading,” said Kimberlee Stephens, Recreation Director for Goshen Parks and Recreation. “This initiative has empowered families to spend time outdoors while fostering literacy, social skills, and overall physical and mental well-being.”

You can learn more about the events and programs on the library's website.
